Our 3,000 square meter headquarters, located only 20 minutes away from Copenhagen airport, houses a modern fire laboratory with various furnaces for almost all types of fire tests.
DBI - The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology - is one of Europe’s most modern and high-tech institutes for all aspects of fire safety and security. We work globally, and our test reports are recognized worldwide.
With nearly 400 experienced and dedicated employees, we can help you throughout the entire process, from product development to classification and certification. We conduct a wide range of accredited fire tests on materials, components, and structures for the building, maritime and energy sector such as:
Bio-based building materials • bulkheads • constructions • decks • doors and windows • ducts and penetrations • facades • furniture and textiles • insulation • pipes and penetrations • roofs and floors • solar panels • surface materials • timber and timber constructions • and more.
In addition to classification-tests, we also conduct indicative tests, computer-simulations, modelling and consultancy that can help our customers in their product development process.

Our various furnaces allow us to conduct almost all types of fire tests, from small scale test to full scale, including items up to 4.48 meters high.
DBI is accredited by international standardisation bodies for a large number of tests, and we are involved in Danish, European and international standardisation work.
Fire testing of Facades
In our modern Façade test hall, we can carry out facade tests according to both the SP Fire 105 standard and the expected new European façade test standard.
With its impressive ceiling height, efficient smoke-monitoring system and capacity for high fire loads, the hall also offers ideal conditions for a wide range of other projects and tests under controlled conditions.
New test lab for manufacturers of fire detection systems
DBI has established the Nordic region’s first laboratory for accredited testing of detection systems in accordance with the EN 54 series. The new facility is called the Fire Detection Test Lab and enables testing of, among other things, optical smoke detectors, heat detectors, fire panels, power supply equipment for fire panels, and manual call points.
