Electrical Furnace for
small-scale fire testing

DBI’s Electrical Furnace can test multiple small-scale product samples in one day and provide valuable insights through infrared imaging. This can give our customers an indication of the fire safety properties of the product as early as in the stages of concept and development.

Indicative fire tests with the Electrical Furnace can be combined with computer simulations, which can contribute to a more effective product development process.

Neither small-scale tests nor computer simulations can replace a classification fire tests.

However, both methods can save you from wrong construction choices and give you a better idea of when to invest in a full-scale fire test.

Facts about the Electrical Furnace

  • Follows different exposure curves such as ISO 834, Hydrocarbon curve, or custom curves.
  • Possible tests include K1-10, K2-30, EI30, EI60, EI90, EI120 etc.
  • Exposure opening area of 500mmx500mm with 9 heating rods
  • Up to 8 thermocouples for temperature measurements

Our 3,000 square meter headquarters near Copenhagen houses a modern fire laboratory with various furnaces for almost all types of fire tests.

This makes it possible for us to conduct almost all types of fire tests, from small-scale to full-scale, with items as high as 4.48 meters.

Custom equipment for in-house testing

The Electrical Furnace and other small-scale equipment that we use in our fire laboratory can also be supplied to customers who wish to carry out their own small-scale fire tests during product development.

Each solution is tailored to the customer’s specific needs, and DBI continues to provide support and guidance to ensure safe and reliable testing.
